Seatrium, a leading offshore and marine company in Singapore, has been awarded a contract to convert Hoegh Evi’s LNG carrier Hoegh Gandria into a liquefied natural gas floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). The contract marks a significant milestone in Seatrium’s portfolio and underscores its capabilities in complex offshore conversions.
Hoegh Evi confirmed that it had signed a 10-year time charter agreement with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) for the deployment of Hoegh Gandria as an FSRU in Egypt. This agreement reflects the growing demand for LNG infrastructure solutions to support Egypt’s energy needs.
The scope of Seatrium’s contract – which includes the conversion of the LNG carrier into a fully operational FSRU – will involve the installation of a regasification skid and integration of vital supporting systems, including cargo handling, utilities, offloading, electrical, and automation systems.
The engineering works for the project will begin this month, with an estimated project duration of 18 months. The conversion will enhance Hoegh Gandria’s capacity to store and regasify LNG, providing critical infrastructure for Egypt’s gas import strategy.
This contract represents a significant step in Seatrium’s expansion in the offshore energy sector, as the company continues to leverage its expertise in LNG and offshore technologies.
