The 16th Kuwait Week in Cairo, held under the patronage of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, provided a prominent platform for Egyptian and Kuwaiti cooperation. Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) took an active role in the event by presenting a dedicated pavilion at the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Companies Exhibition. The ministry’s pavilion featured several key entities, including the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet), Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), and Modern Drilling Company (MDC).
This year’s Kuwait Week attracted more than 80 institutions from both countries, spanning sectors such as petroleum, natural gas, energy, industry, investment, banking, healthcare, tourism, media, communications, and culture. The event is widely recognized as one of the region’s most important annual gatherings for economic and cultural exchange. It serves as a vital forum for strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Kuwait.
Expanding Regional Partnerships in Oil and Gas
The participation of MoPMR reflects Egypt’s commitment to regional collaboration and knowledge sharing in oil, gas, and mining. The ministry aims to deepen integration among energy-sector institutions through joint ventures and expertise exchange. Over recent years, cooperation between Egypt and Kuwait in the petroleum sector has grown steadily. Kuwaiti companies such as Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) and Kuwait Energy have increased their investments in Egypt’s upstream oil and gas projects.
Egyptian firms also maintain a strong presence in Kuwait’s energy landscape. Companies like ENPPI, EDC, and MDC continue to contribute to oil and gas operations in Kuwait through engineering services, drilling expertise, and technical support. This mutual engagement underscores the importance of strategic partnerships between the two nations.
Strengthening Economic Ties Through Shared Development Goals
Kuwait Week plays a crucial role in supporting shared development objectives for both countries. The MoPMR emphasized that such platforms foster strategic partnerships within the regional energy sector. By encouraging dialogue and cooperation among leading institutions, these events help reinforce the economic ties that underpin growth in oil and gas exploration, production, and related industries.
Kuwaiti oil companies have established themselves as key players in Egypt’s upstream sector. KUFPEC has expanded its portfolio by acquiring stakes in offshore Mediterranean and Gulf of Suez concessions. Notably, KUFPEC holds a 40% share in Shell’s Nile Delta Block 3 and has reported recent output gains from the Geisum–Tawila West fields. Meanwhile, Kuwait Energy operates several onshore assets in Egypt, including interests in Burg El Arab, Abu Sennan, Area A, and East Ras Qattara concessions.
Sustained Growth Through Bilateral Cooperation
Together, KUFPEC and Kuwait Energy represent significant Kuwaiti investments that are driving growth in Egypt’s oil and gas exploration and production. Their continued involvement supports Egypt’s ambitions to expand its energy sector while contributing to regional stability. The success of Kuwait Week demonstrates how sustained bilateral cooperation can unlock new opportunities for both nations.
As both governments emphasize shared development goals through platforms like Kuwait Week, their partnership is expected to remain central to economic progress across multiple sectors. The collaborative efforts showcased at this year’s event signal a promising future for Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations in energy, investment, and broader regional integration.
